The Group is home to specialist firms as well as flagship events. Each has its own team, but all of them share the same goal: creating opportunity in the West Midlands.
A Birmingham public affairs agency launched in 2023. It helps clients with strategy, policy and campaigns, while Paul serves as its Chairman and co-founder. You can also visit Walk Through Walls online.
A week of events for researchers, clinicians, firms and investors, so the region can show off its strengths in health and life sciences. You can also read about Life Sciences Week.
A membership body for manufacturing, engineering, tech and life sciences firms. In particular, it helps members find grants, funded projects and new partners. Visit The Technology Supply Chain to learn more.
UK awards that celebrate innovators, from start-ups to large manufacturers. Judges pick a shortlist, and then the public votes for finalists. You can also learn about the awards.
A West Midlands recruitment firm that gives a portion of its profits to employment support projects, so its placements help other people too. It is also central to Paul’s employment and skills work.
An event that helps small firms meet defence manufacturers, Ministry of Defence staff and policymakers, because supply chains need fresh ideas. You can also read about the conference.
As Group CEO, Paul Cadman sets the direction for One Thousand Trades Group and its brands. In every business, he also leads with the same three principles.
01
Standards: for Paul, excellence is a habit, not an act. So quality comes from doing the basics well, every day, in every part of the Group.
02
Stewardship: leadership means leaving things better than you found them. Each business is something to grow with care and then hand on in better shape.
03
Service: success is measured by the benefit you bring to others, rather than by profit alone.
Under Paul Cadman, One Thousand Trades Group measures success by what it gives back. For example, Starting Point Recruitment puts a portion of its profits into employment support. The Group’s events also open doors for small firms that might otherwise struggle to reach buyers and investors.
Giving back extends to charity, too. In March 2025, a Group fundraiser at Moseley Rugby Club raised over £12,000 for Fisher House, which supports injured service personnel and their families. In addition, the Group has signed the Armed Forces Covenant, and in September 2026 it received a Silver award under the Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme. Walk Through Walls also holds a Bronze award under the same scheme.
