Academic roles of Professor Paul Cadman

Paul holds roles at two Birmingham universities. Both focus on practical, job-ready learning, so his business background fits naturally.

Birmingham City University

Paul has been a visiting professor of entrepreneurship at Birmingham City University since 2019, in the Faculty of Business, Law and Social Sciences. He also sits on the advisory board of the university’s business school, which helps the school meet the needs of employers. In 2022, the university awarded him an honorary Doctorate of the University.

University College Birmingham

Paul became an Honorary Fellow of University College Birmingham in 2022. The link is personal, because he earned his first qualification at the College of Food, which later became UCB. He also sits on the university’s Strategic Employment Board, so employers help shape what students learn.

Teaching from lived experience

Paul left school unable to read or write because of undiagnosed dyslexia. As a result, Professor Paul Cadman speaks from lived experience about setbacks as well as success.

Students learn how businesses really start, grow and sometimes fail, and why resilience matters as much as a plan. Read more about his story, or find help with dyslexia from the British Dyslexia Association.

Research by Professor Paul Cadman

The research of Professor Paul Cadman sits where law, markets and decision-making meet. In particular, it looks at how legal risk, public attention and the flow of information shape the way firms and investors behave.
