I took myself to Barmouth. No fanfare. No agenda. Just space. The kind of space that strips everything back to what matters. For two days, I slept. Deep, uninterrupted sleep. Not because I was tired—but because I finally gave myself permission to stop. No meetings. No noise. No expectations. Just rest. That reset wasn’t indulgent—it was tactical. It cleared the fog. It sharpened the edge.
Barmouth has history. As a child, it was a place of solitude. A quiet corner where a troubled mind could breathe. I didn’t fit in. I didn’t follow the script. I saw the world differently—faster, deeper, louder. Back then, it was survival. Now, it’s strategy. That same mind now drives change, drives ambition, and delivers. What once felt like isolation now fuels impact.
Looking to 2030 and working backwards
I didn’t go to Barmouth to escape. I went to recalibrate. To look at 2030 and work backwards. That’s how I operate. Vision first. Legacy locked. Then every step aligned. The end of 2025 isn’t a finish line—it’s a checkpoint. The pace is increasing. The focus is absolute.
My dyslexic brain doesn’t idle. It flies ahead. It sees patterns before they’re drawn. That’s not chaos—it’s clarity. Right now, the clarity is brutal. I know exactly where I’m going. I know what needs to move with me. I know what needs to be left behind.
The last couple of years have been a crucible. I’ve seen loyalty tested. I’ve seen institutions disengage. I’ve seen legacy questioned. I’ve also seen what happens when people rise. When teams hold the line. When impact is real. That contrast has shaped me. Hardened the resolve. Success breeds success—but only when it’s built on substance. On values. On truth.
This isn’t about clashing. It’s about building. The journey is moving forward. I don’t do delay. I don’t do ambiguity. I don’t do excuses. I move. Strategically. Relentlessly. With honesty, integrity, and loyalty as my compass.
Priorities that have crystallised
My priorities haven’t changed. They’ve crystallised. One Thousand Trades Group is the anchor. It’s where the energy is being channelled. It’s the platform through which my ideas, ventures, and partnerships will scale. The list of business opportunities is growing—sharper, bolder, and built for success. Not just for me—but for the region, the team, and the legacy we’re building together.
The third sector remains front and centre. That’s not negotiable. The organisation might change. The cause might evolve. The principle stands firm: everything we do must deliver a third sector outcome. If it doesn’t benefit others, it doesn’t belong in the plan. That’s not a footnote—it’s the foundation.
I’ve had my reset. I’m good to go. Focused. Sharp. The fog has lifted. The engine is running. The next phase is already in motion. The direction is set. The values are fixed. The momentum is real.
Barmouth didn’t soften me. It sharpened me.
Success breeds success. Purpose sustains it. The journey is moving. Step in. Step up. Or step aside.
