Privacy policy
This privacy policy explains how paulcadman.co.uk collects and uses personal data, and the rights you have under UK data protection law. It applies to anyone who visits this website or contacts Paul Cadman through it.
Who we are and what this privacy policy covers
This website belongs to Professor Paul Cadman, who is the data controller for personal data collected through it. If you have a question about your data, email paul.cadman@
What data we collect
We only collect the data we need. That includes:
- contact form details, such as your name, phone number, email address, subject and message
- technical data, such as your IP address and browser type, which our server and security software record to keep the site safe
- cookies that the site needs to work, as well as cookies set by Google reCAPTCHA and YouTube when you use those features
How we use your data
We use your details to reply to your enquiry and to keep a record of our conversation. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests, because we need the data to answer you. We also use technical data to protect the site from spam and attacks, which is a legitimate interest too.
Your data is not for sale. In addition, nobody joins a mailing list unless they ask to.
Spam protection and videos
The contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA to block spam. As a result, Google may collect data about your device and how you use the page, so read how Google handles data to find out more.
Some pages also show YouTube videos in privacy-enhanced mode. Even so, YouTube may set cookies once you press play.
Your rights and choices
You have rights over your personal data, and we will help you use them. Most requests are free, and we reply within one month.
Who we share data with
We only share data with the services that run this website. For example, that includes our website host, our email provider and Google, which runs reCAPTCHA. Some of these services may process data outside the UK, but only with safeguards that UK law requires.
How long we keep data
We keep enquiry emails only while we need them for your enquiry and any follow-up. After that, we delete them. Similarly, security logs only last a short time before removal.
Your data protection rights
Under UK GDPR, you can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it or delete it. You can also object to how we use it, ask us to limit it or ask for a copy to move elsewhere. To make a request, just email us.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, then please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Changes to this privacy policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time, for example when the site changes. The date below shows when it last changed.
